In the face of global warming and the fight to preserve the planet, how many French hotels can pride themselves on having determined their carbon footprint? One is the Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa, driven for the past three years by an ambitious environmental philosophy.
To begin with, all plastic water bottles in the rooms have been replaced by glass bottles, and the teams are given re-usable flasks. In partnership with Unisoap, all soap opened and not used is now collected and recycled. Within the residence, all kinds of paper are replaced by digital versions, corks and used oils are recycled. Composts have also been installed and the hotel is working on a solution for non-compostable bio-waste.
The goal is to pollute as little as possible: e-bikes, recharging stations, and a Nosmoke (electric car) are available. To meet guests' requests, the hotel also works with electric taxis. Finally, in the gardens, eco-responsibility means an aromatic garden supplying herbs for the kitchen and bar, a birdhouse, hedgehogs, squirrels, and soon beehives.
Very proactive, the Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa is thus acquiring the means of obtaining the eco-responsible "Clé Verte" label at the end of the year.
